Hair Colour FAQs

All About Hair Colour At The Cutting Company Salon In Loughborough

Which hair colour will suit me?  Do I need a patch test?  What is balayage?  How do I go from brunette to blonde? These are just a few hair colour questions our clients ask us when they visit which is why we've compiled these quick Hair Colour FAQs for you to read.  We are always happy to chat to you about your hair colour options and will take the time to answer any questions you have.  But, for starters, read on to find out more about what to expect when you have hair colour at our Loughborough hair salon.

Important: In most cases, you will require a quick allergy alert test 48 hours prior to your hair colour appointment.

What Is Balayage?

Balayage allows us to create bespoke colour in vertical sections throughout your hair. Very often we are asked for blonde balayage or sun-kissed balayage where lighter colours are added where the sun would naturally lighten your hair. We can also create beautiful red balayage and fashion colour effects, as well as the popular Money Piece.

What Is The Money Piece?

Firstly, let's chat about the name - The Money Piece.  It's called this because it involves adding face-framing highlights - often blonde - to give your hair a more sophisticated and, dare we say, expensive look. We can add a Money Piece as thick, chunky highlights, super-fine highlights or something in-between!

Will Red Hair Suit Me?

We're pretty sure we can find a red hair shade that will suit your skin tone, eye colour and your individual sense of style. Popular red hair colours include bright cherry red hair colour, copper hair shades, auburns and ruby red tones.  As one of the best hair colour salons in Loughborough, we are up-to-date with the latest hair colouring trends and techniques so can recommend the perfect hair colour to suit you.

Do I Need A Patch Test Before My Hair Colour Service?

We are a colour-responsible hair salon so will not colour your hair for the first time without carrying out a quick allergy alert test on you. This is a quick test that involves dabbing some colour product either behind the ear or on the inside of your elbow.  Leave it for 24 hours and if all is well and you have no reaction, we know it is safe to then colour your hair.  Your allergy alert test must be carried out at least 48 hours before your colour appontment so please factor that in.

Can I Go From Brunette To Blonde?

If you wish to completely change your hair colour - perhaps from brunette to blonde, or blonde to red, please bear in mind that your appointment is likely to take longer than usual.  Book in for a complimentary hair colour consultation so we can chat through the process so there are no surprises for you in terms of results, cost, appointment time, and after-care.
